What’s going on at Inverness Animal Hospital?

As 2013 comes to a close, we’re looking forward to the new year and all that it will bring! We will continue to strive towards a more “cat friendly” office, and we are happy to report that the changes we’ve made so far towards this goal have had wonderful results! Kitties coming to our office have been much happier and more relaxed, which makes for a better and easier visit!

We’ve also got a lot of exciting new ventures to look forward to! From new Facebook contests to new steps to healthier and happier pets, we’re expecting 2014 to be one of the best years yet at Inverness Animal Hospital!

Last Month at Inverness Animal Hospital

In October we hosted a Halloween pet costume contest on our Facebook page! It was tons of fun for everyone, and we had quite a few entries. On Halloween morning we tallied all of the votes, and the winner was Cubbie, an adorable little Chihuahua who dressed as Batman! Congratulations Cubbie!

Be sure to check out our Facebook page as we’re posting a funny picture for each of the “12 days of Christmas”! Wait till you see what we came up with!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The Christmas season is here, and we are overjoyed! Not only have we decked our halls in celebration of this day, but we’ve also been giving all of our wonderful patients Christmas presents when they come to visit! In addition to this, we are decorating our Christmas tree with our patient’s Christmas wishes, and at the end of the month we will choose one lucky person as the winner of a golf game for two!

In November, we celebrated two holidays that happened to fall on the same day! This year, the first full day of Hanukkah was the same day as Thanksgiving, and this won’t happen again for over 77,000 years! To celebrate, we created our very own “Menurkey” (menorah/turkey) and had all of our clients write on a feather why they were thankful for their pets! We were very pleased with how big our “Menurkey” got by the end of the month!

Metabolic Diet Update

We’re happy to report that we’ve had our first patient reach their goal on the Metabolic Diet! Buddy started out at 29.1 pounds, and after 5 1/2 months he has reached his goal of 20 pounds! That’s 32% of his body weight lost! Buddy’s owner had only good things to say about the diet! She told us that it was so easy and she was extremely satisfied with the results, and Buddy loved the food as well! Buddy is now one happy and healthy pooch!

A proper weight is crucial to your pet’s health and well-being, and with the holiday season here, it’s easy to overlook your furry friends packing on some extra pounds. Obesity in pets causes a wide array of additional health issues such as diabetes and kidney failure. Hills Metabolic Diet is a wonderful solution to getting your pet’s weight under control. If you think this may be the solution for your pet, call us today to schedule a consultation!

Looking Forward: 2014

2014 is going to bring with it many wonderful things! In January we will be running a Facebook contest for the best New Years Resolutions! We’re also breaking out our walking shoes for the return of our “Walk n’ Weigh” program in 2014! Physical fitness for both you and your pet is crucial, so what better way to keep in shape than to get walking with your furry friends!

February will bring with it the return of dental awareness month! All February long we will be offering sales and specials on pet dental related products, as well as using our blog and Facebook page to educate out clients about the importance of dental health for your furry friends!

March will also be a big month, as we will be focusing on rechecking those senior pets who took advantage of our comprehensive senior exam and blood-work package back in September. As pets age, they experience multiple health concerns such as heart, liver, and kidney disease, as well as diabetes and arthritis. A great deal of these issues can go unnoticed. By taking preventative measures, such as twice yearly exams and blood-work, we can detect these issues early on and get your pet on the track towards better health.

For more information about any of our upcoming programs and projects, be sure to keep up with our Facebook page and blog as we will be posting new information every day!

Be sure to keep an eye out for a new upcoming flea and tick preventative for dogs! Nexgard will be coming out some time next year. This beef-favored chew is not only a tasty treat for dogs, but is also a great monthly flea and tick preventative!

Our facebook followers are enjoying all of our posts from new baby pictures (both furry and human) to educational materials, as well as Dr. and staff photos and stories! If you haven’t already done so, please like us on facebook to follow all of our activities and share our information with all of your friends!
